Faculty:Mathematics
Department:Mathematics
Start Date:25 December 2000 (projected)
End Date:4 February 2001 (projected)

Project Description

Taking the interested reader out on a grand tour of strange mathematical creatures, these pages intend to give a basic introduction and short tour of Algebraic Structures -- with examples of them, explanations (sometimes) of why they're called the names they are called, and some neat tricks they can be taught.

Project Contents

  1. Sets, relations and operations
  2. Groups
  3. Rings
  4. Fields
  5. Wheels
  6. Monsters and other extremities

Help Needed

The project currently needs help. Among other areas, the project craves need with:

  1. Proof reader
  2. Readability guide1
  3. Problems, exercises and solutions wizard2

1I've started to notice that the texts that I find readable and enjoyable are not always the same that all people can actually understand anything from...2The guidelines state that we're supposed to give exercises... All that I can think of is -- sadly enough -- either 'trivial' or 'unsolved' .-(
