Enjoyed your short summary of War 1812 and was surprised by The Windmill attacks of 1837 which had escaped my earlier readings. Please also consider the following:

1) anyone interested in the War should reference the extensive "Lossing's Field Book on War of 1812" - 1866 it is on internet.. Lossing travelled and walked most action scenes of the war in 1860s and spoke to & quotes many of those still alive some forty years later--including my direct Canadian ancestor Robert Eberts. Based on my other reading, Lossing---- an American--- is a good and accurate reporter of what he saw and heard..
the bloody and violent death description of one Eberts wounding and bayonetting agrees with family writings.

2) Fenian Raids at several Quebec ,Fort Erie and Manitoba sites--1866-71 deserve mentioning as well.
All failed because: expected local support never materialized ;local volunteer reserves organized and repelled them .

Enjoy BBC site and can recommend for level 1 Spanish and
Mandarin as well

Checked out Canadian Researchers Club , Sampled 10 sites and was somewhat disappointed:

1) no content of consequence
2) naught but personal self unenlightenment statements
3) few recent entries and those were --see 1 and 2 above
4) a few HONORARY CANADIANS but the real ones were boring
5) few real RESEARCHERS if any
6) no CLUB
7) DISINTERESTING in general!

Came to tenative conclusion that you referred me only because of my CANADIAN ethnicity and critical lack of members.

Sorry I wont be joining. But thanks for consideration.
