Surely the best Holmes on screen - as long as they stuck to the stories as written. Once they ran out of stories to adapt, and started inventing new "telly-friendly" episodes, they lost me, I'm afraid.

I agree. jeremy Brett has been the best Holmes I've watched. His portrayal of Holmes was wonderful. I'm currently watching "the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" with Jeremy Brett as Holmes. It's awesome. 
They invented stories -- that's so silly!! Never knew about it.!!

I have to disagree, for me Basil Rathbone was the perfect Holmes. He was absorbing to watch though Brett would be 2nd in my opinion.
