My experience is that empty beer-bottles/cans are ideal as ashtrays. They have the same good qualities as cups (containing a bit of liquid on the bottom of them). There are also a lot of them at parties... Plus they give you a good laugh if someone tries to take a sip from your bottle/can-ashtray!

Also you don't have to clean them, just toss them in the bin.
