Are there any practical uses for a mobius strip?

Yes - I heard that rubber conveyor belt bands in mines etc are often in the mobius strip shape rather than a straightforward loop so that wear and tear is reduced (both sides are used).

That's how it was invented, some mine supervisor called Mobius.
