After reading Tess and Casterbridge, I can say that I do not care for Mr. Hardy's works in the least. Do you agree or disagree? And why?

Pardon my lack of clarity. When I said that I did not care for him, I mean that I do not care for his style of writing, sentence structure, etc. The plot of Tess was believeable, but the plot of Castorbridge was contrived and often illogical.
"Gee, I'm a well-to-do lady in a good dress hiding in a hayloft. I sure don't want anyone to hear me, so I think I'll opperate some noisy machinery that will throw hay all over me."
