I just don't get this incredible series being deleted. And why was Series 2 never brought out on DVD? It was listed as 'upcoming' forever, but no show... It costs a fortune on video (if you can find it) and who wants to watch skanky old video format anyway?
Please BBC, 'this life' is constantly referred to in the media/writing world as a 90s classic, but you don't seem to want it seen anymore. Old rubbish like 'Boys from the Blackstuff' get trotted out endlessly, and revered by otherwise intelligent commentators, but they don't have the relevance to us that 'this life' has.
So please bring it out - there's a market waiting for it!

Visit http://www.splashdvd.com/splash/search.cfm?item_id=BBCDVD1011&act=detail for Series 1 on DVD.
I have the videos and can't afford to 'upgrade' just at the moment (what with so many other fantastic recent releases on DVD, like M*A*S*H, Red Dwarf 3 and Robin of Sherwood!
). Don't have Series 2 of 'This Life' yet though.

Visit Ebay for Series 1 DVD/VHS & Series 2 VHS

Hi from Melbourne Australia. I loved This Life ever since it screened on the ABC (Australia's equivalent to the BBC). To those of you trying to get hold of the show, I recommend searching for it on Ebay the online auction site. Both series 1 and 2 are often for sale at www.ebay.com (USA) or www.ebay.co.uk (UK). Series 1 is available on DVD and VHS, Series 2 is VHS only. Series 2 is also harder to get and usually costs more.

I have to agree with you! What a shame the fans of the show can't buy the dvd's anymore. Just checked out Ebay and series 1 of This Life on dvd is selling for up to fifty five pound! (So far!)
Shocking! The BBC are really missing out on some extra revenue. You'd think they would beable to burn the dvd to order? Well I'll just have to hope and pray that the BBC are planning a rerun of This Life on one of their free channels or something? (How about a new channel called BBC Gold?). Anyway I'm still crossing my fingers for the final series to be filmed and launched. They left it so high in the air with alot of great possible story lines to be told. Yeah! I know! The cast are ten years older! But that would make it more interesting! 10 years on, what would Anna be up to? Would Miles still be married? Has Egg finally found a job he likes? Are he and Milly still together?....Wouldn't it just be....Outstanding!

I got series 1 about 3 years ago on DVD in the Tower Records sale for £7.99. I've been hunting high and low for series 2 ever since. e-bay want about £100 for the whole series on video
which I refuse to pay. I can't think of another series that was as compelling to watch as This Life, I never missed an episode when it was first broadcast and everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY used to talk about it the next day. So come on BBC, pull your finger out and release series 2 on DVD.
BTW I saw Milly in an episode of something recently, can't remember what it was though, but she played a train crash survivor... first time I've seen her in anything since This Life.

I bought This life series 1 on dvd when it 1st came out, just wish the BBC would see sense and bring series 2 out on dvd,it upsets me deeply. Has anyone wrote the BBC asking why it has never happened?

Maybe there's a film deal in the offing?
That is apparently why the great BBC sci-fi series 'The Tripods' only saw the first series come out on DVD. Whilst there's a possibility of it being made into a film, there are 'questions' over rights. Wish I'd known I wouldn't be able to get S2 before I went and bought S1.

I thought there was only one series of Tripods? Or am I wrong - I know the young actress tragically died soon after filming.

This life - one of many DVDs that should be available!

Have just answered my question. Charlotte Long, who played Eloise in the first series, died in a road accident in 1984.
Cindy Shelley took her role in the second series. She's also been in Tenko, Howard's Way, Grange Hill (in 2001), and a couple of appearances in sitcoms.
On a different note, did you know that the director of the first series was Graham Theakston, who happens to have a son called Jamie... Interestingly, the director of series 2 was called Christopher Barry, thought no relation to another Chris Barrie as far as I can tell.
Admittedly, all this has little to do with 'This Life', other than the fact that neither second series is currently available on DVD, which is a terrible shame. Something else not available on DVD (in the UK) is Neil Gaiman's 'Neverwhere', another fantastic BBC production. However, I was very very pleased to find the video boxed set in The Works a couple of weeks ago for £4.99!

Okay all you 'This Life' fans... To get This Life series one and two back on the box call the BBC Complaints helpline on 08700 100 222 and request they re-run the two series back to back. I asked for the DVD's to be re-release too but got told once deleted its not possible to bring it back on to dvd without a HUGE protest.
