Any ideas?

I recently got interested in this subject when i read an article or saw a programme about it in which a case was mentioned abut a person who went to classical music concerts and thought that the lights were dimmed at the beginning of the concert so that people could see the colour of the music better.
Anybody any ideas what the programme or article might have been?
