Oddly enough we've just been talking about conkers over at the atelier, and the Brits are saying they never see it being played on the street any more.

We had this conversation in the Peer Review thread. I didn't *say* it was a male activity. I said it was *predominantly* males. And I stand by the observation.
Also, what, pray means that this entry needs updating? Has there been some major development in the world of corkers since it was written? (Just getting defensive over an entry I was & am happy with)

Over zealous councils are also chopping them down for health and safety reasons. Kids climbing trees can fall out and sticks can hit cars. As the trees are mostly maintained by the councils they are liable for tany accidents occurred in or due to them.

What promptewd me to write that note to myself was that there was s'one being interviewed on BBC1 TV Morning news a week or so ago who was talking about rules involving 'stamps' and 'strings'. I've just looked at your Entry where you write:
'There are many arcane rules of conkers to do with glancing blows, hits on the string, specific techniques and so on, but they are very variable, and so are beyond the scope of this entry'.
I just think that some of the more common rules should be put in.

Oh, Also the title is 'Conkers'; i.e. could be about more than just the game. So I wanted to insert s'thing about the wartime (WWII) collection of conkers by children - to make acetone.

Still wrong in my experience, but fine so long as you think you're right...
