Don't know if this will interest you, but I have a bit more information about the Victoria cross. My late grandfather was in R.E.M.E., and was commisioned with cutting off the piece of metal used for the most recent batch of medals (1972). I have at home a collection of shcavings from the gun, and a letter, officialy saying who is getting one, ad how much metal is needed.
