A comma would be pertinent between five and times, but still, this formula described is still inaccurate, as a knight could be at any one position on the chess square, and be at a different one on it's arrival at it's new square.

Yes the comma is needed but it's not inaccurate, as it measures from the centre to the centre of the squares, regardless of the knight's position within the square.
But I don't see the knight as 'leaping over' other pieces; rather he sidles between them at a 30 degree angle.
