I think that the reason why Mum and Dad weren't shown above the waist was because Tom and Jerry never used to show the top-halves of the humans.
It is probably the most demented cartoon series I have ever seen. And that includes Ren and Stimpy.

When my friend lost his job and generally got mightily depressed for a month, for a whole week he would only communicate by saying either 'cow' or 'chicken'.
I think that is a glorious acolade for a fantastic show. However, I thought the Red Guy was the downfall of the cartoon. He wasn't hugely funny.

The Red Guy gets all the dirty little jokes in the show... that's why adults like him, although we're never sure why. Cow and Chicken is a very adult-oriented cartoon, but this is not apparent on first viewing. The Red Guy is also very sexually ambiguous, and often likes to dress up as a woman.
I'm trying to remember the words to the IM Weasel theme song... "you don't need pants for the victory dance..." and then?

It all came back to me
You know, at some point I was in touch with David Feiss. He was very kind to me when I wanted to do my thesis on the translation of Cow and Chicken. I ended up doing something else instead (a thesis on the adaptation of Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit...) Wonder what he's working on now...

Not much, since I didn't get the reference... anyway, the title of the thread refers to the closing frame of Cow and Chicken, in which the word "End" appears and one of the characters voiced by Charlie Adler (Cow, Chicken or The Red Guy, according to who spoke the last line) says "Eeeeeeeeend!"
