Amateur Astronomy

2 Conversations

I have been interested in stars and planets and space for a long time, right back to when I first saw Star Wars in 1978. It's a fascination that still grips me today.

Unfortunately because I live in a small town, light pollution is a bit of a problem so my forays out into the night are few and far between. I normally reserve my stargazing for trips to my parents.

I do not have much equipment, a really cheap and nasty telescope plus a pair of Russian binoculars, but I do intend to buy myself a proper refractor in the next few years. It's amazing however the amount of information you can glean just with the naked eye.

If you know nothing about astronomy, but you are interested in knowing more, here is a quick introduction to the night sky.

If you are reading this and you are interested in astronomy, drop me a line here!
