Congratulations to all the finalists. I'm a bit confused by the winning entry, though. "Firstly, we wanted something that we couldn't see just by looking out of the office window...," said the summary of criteria above, but since when can one not see a robin perched outside a window?

Hootoo is having competitions now that don't involve captioning the antics of drunk researchers at meetups? Boy, I'm out of the loop!

Yes indeed, this rule in the competition actually left things wide open as only 346 entries had to be moved to the h2g2 Photography Competition folder marked 'row of cacti'.

I like the winning entry, but I still should have won

Psssst! It was a lovely photo Ahh lovely Rome...

I am not saying I don't like the photo...

But robins always remind me of those awful 'end of the box' Christmas cards, so unfortunately I can't get that out of my head. It didn't stand a chance with me for that *and only that* reason.

Besides - we are all just incredibly jealous!
