That has got to be it... The ship on Magrathea, Marvin talks to it and it dies. unless it is supposed to the heart of gold on Magrathea...

wasn't the Heart of Gold described as looking like a sleek running shoe? not the Death Star? It would make a lot more sense if it is the Heart of Gold though, as they are walking away from it, and they only walk towards the other ship. Unless, of course, it is the brief moment when they are walking back to the Heart of Gold, after examining the police ship. Hmmm

In the books it was described as a sleek running shoe, but something that works as a metaphor in a book doesn't necessarily translate to the visual medium. The filmmakers have come up with a new design. These images don't actually do it justice - in other pictures I've seen it looks gorgeous.

I always pictured it, dont ask me why, as something not too dissimilar from The Discovery in 2001 A Space Odyessy. So if its got a large circular wotsit on the front - the design sketch is already a few steps ahead in meeting my mental image of the Heart of Gold.

Don't get me wrong, I actually think that will be great as the Heart of Gold. Round is good.
