Isn't deep thought set up in an office? And the mice were mice, right? Not thingys? Hard to say... It would be interesting. Any other guesses anyone?

Only in our dimension. In their own they look totally different.

I seem to recall the books describing carpet and a wooden desk where Deep Thought was, so I guess I just assumed the office. True about the mice. Maybe it is Deep Thought, that would be very cool.
