Help! tiny splinters in the skin. Cause Unknown

My best friend is an avid gardener & has been digging out, re-planting etc ec.
Yesterday she developed tiny splinters all over her hands, from one of the many plants she has touched.
She does not know which plant caused this condition.
Can anybody help with a possible cause & a remedy?
