This page gives a short history and analysis of the photocollage work produced by David Hockney between 1982 and 1987. If anyone can find any more of his pictures on the web, please let me know so that I can link them in to the article!

This is a good introduction to David Hockney's work. There is a problem with it. The Edited Guide Entry will not include any pictures by David Hockney. I don't think it will include links to external sites featuring his work either. This means that you will be discussing something that the reader may not have seen.

For this reason, you must start the article with am explanation of what exactly a photocollage is and how Hockney's are not the same as just taking a large number of photos from a single point and sticking them together. The relationship of things in the picture to each other and the way each item appears complete, face-on, is the most striking thing about his work.

The entry describes the essentials of Hockney well. I have seen a documentary in which he describes his own work. Most of what he said has been presented in this Entry.

Good work!

Thanks for your comments. Do you reckon that if I put a paragraph to the effect that "If you search for 'david hockney photocollage' or 'place furstenberg' on any search engine you'll be able to see these pictures" it would get past the censors smiley - smiley? You're right though, I ought to add a paragraph describing what they are like and how they are made.

I updated the entry, adding a descriptive paragraph about what joiners are, and I added a link to the WebMuseum's entry on David Hockney. Would this be more to the editor's liking, rather than a direct link to the pictures?

I can't find anything in the guides to submitting stuff that mention links, so maybe they're OK. But you will have to cut out all references to yourself from the entry before it will be accepted. Instead of talking about the joiner you made of the amphiteatre, make it hypothetical: "for example, a joiner could be made of an amphitheatre with the seats on the outside, by careful choice of the viewpoint" or something better phrased than that. There's also a bit at the end "I can provide more details". Get rid of it.

If you can provide more details, why not do it? This has the makings of a good entry - why not give us the whole thing?

Hi, I'm intending to update this entry as soon as possible, but I'm a bit bogged down with work at the moment. Give me a week or so and I'll probably do it!

I've updated this entry, hopefully the editorial details (links and first person) are OK now. I don't think it would be appropriate to put too much more in, because I'd have to go very in depth, and the essay on which this post is based is a good 5000 words or so, which is probably too long for a guide entry.
