Thank you for all your bug reports over the last few days. We have been working hard to squish them. I'm delighted to report that the name bug is fixed.

We have turned off 'suffixes' as this as causing a problem which meant that in some skins the only thing you could see was the Suffix.
Now whatever you set as your screen name in 'settings' will be displayed on h2g2. You can change this any time you like - and there's no 50 character limit any more.

We also have a new smiley (smiley - hero < hero &gtsmiley - winkeye and Goo users can now enjoy smiley - pggbs as well.

Announced by Z, work done by Pastey and the tech team.

(Gentle reminder that it is "SETTINGS", top-bar area perhaps, not the 'Preferences' of days of old ...)

Hmm...I've just tried entering a long screen name and I get an SQL 'quotation mark' error when hitting the update button.

Wait! No, fixed that. Don't put 'raw' apostrophes in screen names is the answer.

No, as I said, failure to use ' for an apostrophe was the answer.

Raw apostrophes are highly poisonous. They need to be simmered for a good two hours.

Yes. I strongly suspect you can't put war and peace into your tag. NB please don't try.

I think it depends when you pick them Mr D. Spring raw apostrophes haven't had the time to develop all those bitter principles.

Should we have an h2g2 supersmiley - hero called 'Simmering apostrophe'?
