I'm surprised no-one has commented on this before.
I have 2 suggestions you can feel free to ignore. Firstly, the first paragraph seems a bit long and goes from the role in the initial full invasion of Britain to supporting roles when Britain has been established in the Empire. I would consider perhaps splitting this into 2 - perhaps just before "The home port was transferred..."
The other one, after mentioning Carisbrooke perhaps you could link to the edited article on Bembridge when you mention Bembridge? A279579

Did they make landings or did they take place?

Was it both of them?
Bob, I wonder how this piece would read if more of it were in the active voice as opposed to the passive voice?
For example:
The commander of the Litus Sxonicum was given the title of Comes Litoris Saxonice Britanniam, Count of the Saxon Shore.
President Gerald Ford awarded the commander of the Litus Sxonicum the title of Comes Litoris Saxonice Britanniam, Count of the Saxon Shore.

litoris Saxonici per Britanniam or Comes Litoris Saxonice Britanniam I have seen both forms it is confusing.
If you search on the web you will find both forms about 50/50.
I will go with both in the text if apprioate

comms - lit oris - saxon ice - purr - brittan I am
that is how I would say it as you mentioned it

I had a quick look and it seemed fine. I'm treating these three Entries about the Roman Navy as one subject - they can get linked again by a sub-editor - should the EDs select them soon, that is.
