Fasinating. What got you hunting down this particular phrase?

As said in the Peer Rewiew discussion the quote popped into my head when writing a blog entry on my homepage, and I subsequently added it at the bottom of the entry.
I hate adding quotes without a source so I made a quick search to find out who had said it, and stumbled across the linked story by DeLong. I found it so fascinating that I made more searches to uncover as much as possible about the qoute, and when I at the same time remembered I had not been to h2g2 in a while and found that noone had written about it here, I just wrote about it myself as I had already researched it.
