Excellent entry smiley - ok

I haven't had time to read through it all, but it's one of my favourite topics and I'll be sure to be back.

smiley - applauseExcellent – the sort of thing I wish I'd written.

There were a few minor spelling things I noticed (they always seem to slip in, as I know too well)
'parliament' should be 'Parliament'
'who were recruited Charles Vignoles' to be 'who recruited'
origins in roman times – should be Roman
'this line became secondary, with less services' – should be fewer services

I would also consider linking to related articles, such as:
A9565329 National Rail Stations in Central Manchester (I wonder who wrote that, eh?)
A280892 Liverpool, Merseyside, UK
A309674 Manchester, England, UK
A500365 Wigan, Greater Manchester, UK
A13064780 The Liverpool Overhead Railway
But otherwise excellent!

Very interesting. I've lived in this area for some years, so I know all the places mentioned. Just one thing...

"The Rennies made demands for their services that the company were not willing to pay, so they went back to Stephenson. He didn’t appreciate the work of the gentile Rennies so changed the route"

I was wondering why the word "gentile" appeared in there? I can't make any sense of it.
