The Sands of the Sahara…Where?

Everything is covered with Sahara sand in Germany.

Bel lives in Frankfurt. That's not normally a place we'd associate with the Sahara desert. But if the Germans won't go to the desert, apparently the desert will come to Germany. Recently, Swabia has been covered in Sahara sand, courtesy of weird winds.

We're not sure whether to classify this as a Fortean phenomenon, but we are relieved to learn from Bel that recent rains have washed a great deal of the grit away. 'You can see out the windscreen now,' she says.
