What I originally wrote

I'd only been here 5 minutes when someone commented that I hadn't moved in, so here is my brief introduction just to say I'm here. Don't expect anything interesting anytime soon.

The reality

I've been here two days and there's still nothing interesting, but I have converted my page entry to GuideML and changed my name from 'Mark' to 'manolan'.

I suppose you could consider that converting to GuideML is sort of putting up curtains and slapping a bit of paint on the front door, but why 'manolan'?

Simple answer really. 'manolan' has always been my user account here at work, for as long as I can remember, anyway. It is incredibly non-standard and no one seems to be able to remember exactly what it is... just that it is non-standard. Perfect, in fact. So perfect, that those who can remember it tend to use it as a title.

(Little reminder to myself that I joined h2g2 on 24 Jan 2000.)
