Conversation:

In the last couple of weeks, we've had sleet, almost* snow, hail, rain, thunder, lightening, and a distinct lack of the big yellow floating awrm thing in the sky...
Ever since the 'drough' started...

Having just been into town to pick up a few essentials (coffee beans from the small coffee shop, lunch in the small cafe, mushrooms (half price at Tesco), cheddar (reduced), yogart (4 pence more expensive than it was on Saturday), and cigs (my next door corner shop, is, I believe effectively breaking the law, as his prices still haven't gone up following the budget )
And. Its bluddy horrible out there, rain, which is very* close to actually being snow, and a freezing cold wind.

ON the good point, its nice to see they are still digging up East Road, (a very important road in the town as it connects one side to the other, and really quite busy, normally)...

The initial digging the road up bit followed some problem with the gas mains... took quite a while... Then they went into a four week scheduled repair on it... about two or three months ago
Completely buggered up the traffic, brillient... and, the best bit:
if your at the tempory lights, and time it just* right, with the set of lights at the other end of the road, you can entirely stall any movement of traffic, over at least two, and sometimes three, (depending what happens at the other lights by the end of the first/second cycle), cycles of the crossings


Off to check my flood insurance is up to date, if the drought continues much longer I may have to move to higher ground.

Oh, I'm quite scepticle about the whole 'drought' idea, just looks more like a money making scam by the water companys to me, for at least one reason....; I've heard several 'experts' on the radio, telling us, the listener about the two really dry winters we've had, in East Anglia. So, I guess, I must have imagined all the snow, which at slightly differnt times, in each winter, actually was bad enough to prevent getting to where my Dad lives... and made walking round here, even just as far as the pub, basically impossible... Also, over the same two winters, I was out in this 'drought' of water, and found simular coverings of snow in at least three countys round here...

I'm going to grow a new lifeform, in an old plastic tub, which used to contain poppy seeds. I need to think of a name for her/him... I'm quite tempted to call him/her 'Bob', as that would fit in with BoB, FAther of nighthoover, as the new lifeform will help in the creation of many other lifeforms..... and, also it fits in with our goldfish naming protocol, where goldfish are always called 'Bob', after my FAther's nextdoor neighbour. Got a bit confusing when we had a pond with Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, and Bob, all in it at the same time... Mind, They've moved from the pond now, to a pond at a differnt house...

Typical April weather here: rain, dry, sunny, warm, cold, wet.... all within one day.

The weather's crepe here too, I had to put the heating on the other day and I vowed not to do that until late October.

My garden's going rampant and I can't get out there to clear it all away.

My heating hasn't really been turned off full stop, here, though on thermostat, so not like its runnign all the time, and with the new windows, at least the house holds the temp once its warmed up a bit inside

The journal title is mainly as a consequence of my lodger and I, (and I'm introducing the phrase to other friends etc), as we started commenting on any aspect of weather that contridicts the notion we're all about to die from lack of water, happening...
As in; The drought's heavy outside today... (its raining heavy).

and now, apprnetly there are flood warnings... for the South west... whilst they are in the middle of a drought...

It's pouring down here as well, and so cold that I wore my winter down padded coat with hood to go to the shops. Everyone is still wearing winter weight clothes!

I just saw the weather forecast...we are beset with swirling isobars for the forseeable future..

And, in the middle of the drought, parts of the South West, now appear to have flood warnings....

Its mainly been wildly windy here overnight in the drought ridden South east but we did have some torrents yesterday. Lost one of our mini greenhouses too

We're having so much rain that me sump pump in the cellar is going off several times an hour, it makes a farting noise which is quite funny.

Oh, and we've just had thunder. Excellent. Can we have Spring at some point this year, preferably not when it's supposed to be Summer?

We had spring when it was supposed to be winter.

We had Summer in March. It lasted a week (about as long a real English Summer )

Summer must be on the horizon. Saw 2 chaps mowing the 10x6 foot square of grass near work today (it took one to mow and the other to pick up the cuttings blowing around

Its been warm enough for grass to be growing, most of the time, since March, mind... I seem to recall grass grows once the temp is 2 degrees or more

The Summer we had for the week in March was fabulus... And gave such a sense of (seemingly unfounded) optamism that we were in for a really rather decent spring, and consequent decent summer...
By chance, and very luckily, that was the week William and I were away and we had a fabulus time walking about during the day, with the sun actually out, and actual warmth... Mind, were stil getting somewhat cold evenings obviously at that point Although... that did give an excuse to retire early to the hotel bedroom

Damn the breeze coming in through the kitchen window felt cold, in the early hours today, whilst I was doing supper
I think it may actually be free of drought today... well, I can't hear any hail or rain pounding down onto my skylight at the moment...
We're still waiting for a decent Saturday as we've a nice walk planned along by the river, but we've not had a decent enough day to do it, now, since March
