My Space (my natives, my ivory, etc)

Greetings from this little corner . I would like first of all to say that I am a devoted fan of Douglas Adams and h2g2. I enjoy this space and the diverse articles and opinions to be read in the guide. I am a bit of a dilettante, and enjoy most of the things I spend time doing. I maintain a modest farm, and raise beef cattle and hay('Tis a chough, but, as [Hamlet] say[s], spacious in the possession of dirt). I have been a student, a teacher, a beekeeper, a firefighter, an editor(even a wily editor), a driver, and a shop steward. I am a Ham radio operator, a bibliophile,an avid canoeist (paddler and portager, and builder and restorer of wood-canvas classics) and a dedicated reader. I enjoy good poetry, good fiction, good music, good movies, good whisky, good company, good weather, and a nice cup of tea. I am a strong advocate of Plain Language Writing, and a tireless crusader for the preservation of the Oxford Comma. I believe that, while I may have the right to speak or print what's on my mind, I also have the responsibility to be clear, so that others do not have to wonder what I meant.
