It did, and further. H.P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythos. I remember the name from a book at home when I was a teenager, The Mask of Cthulhu I think. Didn't read it, not my bag.

I've never actually read Lovecraft, but I have read a couple of Neil Gaiman's takes on Lovecraft. I like the idea of the Lovecraftian universe, but I don't know whether I could stomach the actual books.
