oh, and.. it was on quite a compelling topic, and it was written and organized well! I especially appreciated the insights into ancient perspectives on El, but then I'm fascinated by theological evolution, or whatever you want to call it.

Sorry logicus..I'm a firm believer in building something up a bit before starting to throw rocks at it. If nothing else, the fall will be more entertaining. smiley - winkeye

wasn't throwing rocks ,gravestone would aided understandind to further references, also to draw attention to topic, as it is unlikely to be noticed by the general reasearcher other than through "hebrew"
"oldtestement" ect ,yet subject matter predates these by the (x) factor ,refered to in conclusion,i realise how hard it is to get edited entry in guide,if you have a browse though current convo's you will see several entrieson threads this entry is pertenent to topic of disscusion.

It certainly appears to be true that the Old Testament never really denies the existance of Baal, it only says that followers of JHWH should avoid worshipping him. Old school Judaism was only monotheist in the sense that Jews only had one god, but it wasn't until the time of the diaspora that Jews started claiming that other gods simply didn't exist.

Good entry.

Well, if you're going to get into semantics, God *could* have just been referring to all the gods that humans enjoy creating for themselves in their heads. My personal deity is Baff Monster (see Uspace).

I'll have a go at a translation smiley - winkeye

I wasn't throwing rocks or gravestones. More references would have aided in drawing attention to the topic, since the only things likely to be recognized by the average researcher are words like 'hebrew,' 'old testament,' etc., which is interesting, since the subject matter predates these terms by a factor of x, which you pointed out in the conclusion. I realize how hard it is to get entries into the edited guide. If you have a browse through current convos (I can only assume he's referring to all the AskH2G2 threads that deal with religion and whatnot) you will see that this entry would be relevent to the topics of discussion in many threads.

How was that? smiley - angel I'm not sure if he means that you should 'advertise' your entry in relevent threads, or if you should give links to sites that would give more background on certain concepts and terms (or both).

Some of it and no i am not casting "rocks or gravestones" ect should have been suggested or added by editor.
