It could've been just me, but I found I lost interest about half way through; I love beat poetry, and most apsects of 'Beat Culture', but I just couldn't find any reason to continue reading.
Am I just a lazy reader, or does the novel just loose steam or something?

It did, after he meets up with maria and joins in with her family. It starts too.. then back in new york again right after it does a bit more.. then the family visit even more. Like a little rest stip fir whats about to happen because after that its 100mph dash to Mexico and the impending crash.
