Transportation in the 20th Century.

In 1910, artist ES Yates made this chromolithograph to illustrate 20th-century transportation. He was thinking ahead a bit, we suspect. He illustrated trains, automobiles, trolleys, trucks (lorries), airplanes and ships.

We're missing the space shuttle, but there are limits to the imagination.

1910 must have been an exciting year for futurologists. After all, the first air show was held in Hendon, UK, on 10 May.

One thing was clear: getting there was going to be half the fun.
