Two Poems

2 Conversations

I wrote two poems last October. Since I have to admit to myself that poems are expressions written to be read, I have decided to let anyone who wants to read them right here.

No. 1

How do I bury him back again?

Every once in a while when I think I'm okay,

And everything's going my way

Something happens

To open the wound

To stab at the pain

To drag him back up out of the coffin

Where I bury him

Deeper every day.

No. 2

I know my world is not the worst one in which to live.

This I cling to, the rest is self-pity.

But is it being selfish to think about how different it could be

To hate the force that prevented it from being so

To scorn the love which did not see

Which did not see me crying on my bed

Which did not see, and in not seeing hid

Itself from me, preventing me from loving

Where the only other option is an all consuming hate.

I know my world is not the worst one in which to live,

But still, as it is all I know

All I see and feel and think and laugh for and cry for

And pray for and die for,

If I spend my time thinking of my own small tragedy

Will it consume and put an end to me?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
