Something You Probably Didn't Know About "Love Me Tender"

3 Conversations

I play the fretted dulcimer. That may not seem very important, but it is important as to how I discovered that Elvis had some tips on the tune of "Love Me Tender". I was scanning through my book of folk songs for the fretted dulcimer. I stumbled across a song called "Aura Lee" I played it through, realising that it was identical to the very popular song by Elvis Presley called "Love Me Tender". Was it a coincidence or concientious plagiarism. I was bound to find out.
For hours and hours, I did research to yield nothing. But the h2g2 God shined upon me. I am not the only one who has stumbled across this amazing coincidence or knowledgeable thievery. Many a dulcimer player has discovered this. I am not alone.
For those of you who don't believe me, I ask you to research endlessly as I did. Or you can just take my word. You will find the facts of which I have been cursed with in the book of sheet music, "Mel Bays' 'Fun With the Dulcimer'" on pages 22 and 11. If you don't want to buy it, just read it in the store and place it back on the shelf; unless that's illegal. Maybe one day, we'll learn if Elvis was a thief, or a man who wrote a great coincidence.
I thank all of you that have read this article and others that are mine.
