The h2g2 Poem

1 Conversation

A Fond Farewell

I bid you all a fond farewell

With the ringing of a bell

Goodbye I need to flee

Please don't cry over me

I go to sail the sea

As happy as can be

I joined the navy as you know

Where civilians may not go

I shall miss you all

Till next summer or next fall

When for a time I shall come to talk

Till on my door you come to knock

I wave a weary hand

Up into the land

I shall miss it now I know

But alas I must now go

Someday I shall return

The flames in my heart still burn

Should you see me then

Don't lock me in a pen

My time on land is short

Like living in a fort

I miss my friends that's true

But this goodbye should do
