Rolling papers, skins, etc. are used for the preperation of tubes of paper covered devices
with dried, shredded and often toasted/smoked plant material within them for the purpose of
lighting and inhaling the smoke burnt through the end of the cylinder which is not alight. A
common name for these is cigerettes

The variety of papers available in your local tobacconist has increased dramatically in
the last ten years, before you could usually only get hold of the major brand
Rizla, nowadays
companies such as Swan, who's background was traditionally in the making of
matcheshave branched out to make papers, several
rolling tobacco manufacturers provide there own brand of papers with their tobacco, Drum,
Samson and Amber Leaf to name but a few..

What makes one paper different to another?

Size standard rizla type papers are approx 70mm x 35mm, while King size are ( must rush out in the morning and buy some) while there are als a number of speciality brands that produce papers larger than these, while Rips are probably the most famous paper for there length one packet contains a roll of continuos paper approx 70mm X several metres and you just tear it off at the approx length you require.

Weight or Thickness The thinest papers in the rizla range are blue and this colour is often copied as a guide to paper thickness, the only papers discovered to be thinner than this is the dutch/french make OCB which is white, the next thickness up is red and blue which are commonly accepted as Identical in weight and the cause of many discussions as to wether they have the same glue type, essentially they are identical apart from the colour of the packet they come in and the greens having two small corners removed, allegedly these were designed for use in cigerette rolling machines, though they can be usefull in working out which end the glue is on in low light situations, you only have to work out what side the glue is on after that a 1 in 2 chance as a opposed to a one in four chance otherwise.
