So This Is Christmas? by
Midgetmogget

Snowflakes drift slowly down.

Passers-by shiver, stamp their feet.

Tinsel draped across window ledges.

Santa hats all round.

Slade - again - blasting from the radio.

In July.

The Christmas schedules beckon.

Must outdo the other channels.

Season of good will?

They wish.

Bigger budget, more tinsel, larger stars.

This year they'll see a real spectacular.

No snow in July.

No snow in December either.

There will be no snow on Christmas day.

Except on the television.

Fake snow.

Specials filmed earlier and earlier.

April next year.

Eventually, the snow will be real.

Will we care?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
