Join the Q: What a Difference Two Months Makes

In March, I went to a Raptorwatch event on the Wirral. I had a great time, as I saw a superb variety of birds, but it was a cold, damp day. In particular, it felt like I was at the edge of the Earth, with only a few metres of marsh between me and the thick grey cloud.

What a difference two months makes - I went to the same place at the beginning of May and enjoyed a much better view across to Wales. Instead of the featureless fog, I saw fluffy white clouds in a bright blue sky.

Bird-wise, I was amazed to see a number of swallows swooping round, and heard their distinctive call. Serendipitously, one posed for me under the eaves of a building so I could admire its sleek shape.
