Drought in Austria

This lake is a former gravel pit and should be filled with ground water. In the past the houses around the lake were sometimes flooded from high water, but during the last 10 years or so the water sank more and more. Last year they tried to dig the bottom deeper but as you see that didn't really work. We again had hardly any snow or rain this winter, so in the foreseeable future the lake (and others in the area) will remain dry and the ground water levels will stay very low.
