Biographical Information
I am a 5 foot tall ape-decended life form residing in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, in the United States on the North American continent, on the Planet Earth. I answer the question "what do you do" in several ways: I am a dealer of antiques, odds and ends and Cabbage Patch Kids. I have a store in an antique mall, called "The Iris Nursery for Cabbage Patch Kids and Curiosities" where I display my wares and spend much of my time. I study classical voice and I sing for wedding ceremonies professionally. I read with a voracious appetite. I am slowly but surely putting together my very own website. Someday it will be up and running and I will put a link to it on this page. Carrying on. I write short stories. I write a column for a Cabbage Patch Collectors newsletter. I attend the theatre whenever possible, and write and direct plays. I write articles for the Guide. Here at the Guide I am a proud member of the Natural History Museum. I refer to myself as "me, myself or I," depending on the situation.
Why I Have a Personal Space at The Guide
I've always wanted to be a field researcher for the Guide, and now I finally have my chance! Okay, perhaps "always" is a bit of an exaggeration. I only discovered the Hitchhikers Guide pile of books when I was about 12 or so, and that makes it perfectly clear that for at least the first 12 years of my life I knew nothing about the Guide, so I could not have been pining away at becoming a field researcher. But, ever since the fateful day that my dear dad came home with a copy of the first book on audio tape (and later all the books available at the time in paperback format) I've been hooked, and have longed to become a researcher for the Guide myself.
My family plays an even larger role in my writing this introduction here today. I must thank my brother for sending me the invitation to become a researcher. If it had not been for him I would not have known that the Earth Edition of The Guide was becoming a reality, and I would still be sitting here at my computer looking for good deals on Cabbage Patch Kids on eBay to clean up and adopt out in my antique mall Iris nursery, totally unaware of the opportunities for research here.
I've traveled about Earth a bit. So, I expect I will be posting entries regarding things I have seen and done in those travels, and in the times when I was not traveling, but merely living at home wishing I were somewhere else.
At any rate, this has been my introductory bit, and I promise to contribute Guide entries and Journal entries to keep the friendly people at The BBC, the Guide editors, my fellow researchers, and our readers as happy as they make up their minds to be!

As Keeper of Iris Flowers and Cabbage Patch Kids, I, Meadowlark vow to appreciate the beautiful and exotic blooms of the Iris, to display the silk variety in my Iris Nursery (shop), to grow real ones in my own garden whenever the weather permits, and also to appreciate the Cabbage Patch Kids who share my home and also the ones who populate "The Iris Nursery for Cabbage Patch Kids and Curiosities" in the antique mall where I work.
