J-epistomologic closure

How's that for a big word.
And now the US election is over both sides need to give up there epistomologic closure.
New York Times Reported Julian Sanchez, a libertarian at the Cato Institute, was the first to use “epistemic closure” to refer to what he sees as conservatives’ tendency to operate in an information bubble. Any news from outside is immediately regarded as suspect.

Conservative media, Mr. Sanchez wrote, referring to outlets like Fox News and National Review and to talk show stars like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Glenn Beck have “become worryingly untethered from reality as the impetus to satisfy the demand for red meat overtakes any motivation to report accurately.”

Soon conservatives — and a few liberals — jumped into the debate. Bruce Bartlett, a veteran of the Reagan and first Bush administrations, wrote that in the past few years, “epistemic closure” has become much worse among “the intelligentsia of the conservative movement.”

Jim Manzi, a contributing editor at National Review, wrote that Mr. Levin’s best seller, “Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto” “was awful,” and called the section on global warming a case for “willful ignorance,” and “an almost perfect example of epistemic closure.” </(I>

J-Apporved entries

I have a shiny new badge for 25 "Approved" entries. I remember when ( under the BBC) they listed these as "Edited Entries" and the place they resided as the "Edited Guide". Well Not Panicking, As Shakespeare said: A rose by any name would smell as sweet.
I better go change the terminology in my new index. smiley - smiley

I ask that my mortal remains be cremated and interred in a cemetery at Houston,Texas.

If the ads are raising badly-needed revenue for the site, I'm certainly willing to overlook them. It's just that I get a chuckle from themsometimes.laugh

Yesterday it was an ad for tick-removal [I had a tick on me last week, but it came off readily enough with alcohol]. Today it was gluten-free bread. smiley
