Me
I'm Canadobelix from Canada. I'm huge fan of Obelix the Gaul (but Asterix is okay too). I live in Ontario and I'm 40 years old but still a girl at heart. I went to Western in the 1980s (Kings College in particular) and have been working in museums, arts and heritage ever since.
I've been monitoring (okay - who's kidding who - shadowing) H2G2 for a while now and finally decided to sign up. Strangely enough it was a tough decision because there is so much that is interesting to read and respond to, but time is limited (particularly when computer access is restricted to office and library). The Canadian threads are interesting and the commentary is quite informed, so I decided to take part rather than just read.
A few of my favorite things:
chocolate
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
Bruce Springsteen solo
the NDP
Ed Broadbent
Joe Clark (he really shone as Minister of Foreign Affairs)
Asterix the Gaul
spring, summer and fall in Canada
sometimes winter in Canada (life in the snowbelt can be unpleasant)
King of the Hill
Timothy Findlay
Robertson Davies
Stephen Leacock
Agatha Christie
Lemony Snicket
Harry Potter
The House with Anthony Germaine
Our new Governor General - anyone really can grow up to do anything in Canada!!
cheesy Hollywood gossip mags (especially when I'm sick)
As The World Turns (got hooked 5 years ago while on sick leave and can't stop)
A few of my not-so-favorite things:
The Conservative Party (old and new versions)
Stephen Harper
Stockwell Day (in or out of office and/or spandex)
George Bush (old and new versions)
John Bolton (forget the UN appointment and the impact on the world - is this a guy you'd want as your boss??!)
The Simpsons (with apologies to Simpsons fans everywhere - I just don't find it funny)
CNN
Fox 'news'
That really irritating guy - Tucker-what's -his-name - with the bowtie, attitude and absolutely no knowledge of Canada
The female version of Tucker-what's-his-name, whose name escapes me
Larry King
The Osbournes
Reality TV in general (except for The Amazing Race and the really bad audition shows for American Idol)

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
