The Discworld Directory: DEATH OF RATS
Created | Updated May 26, 2003
Though Death (you know the bloke: 7-foot tall, scythe, pretty thin) takes care of all peoples and animals, there is the one-off in The Death of Rats.
The Grim Squeaker himself was created during Bill Door's (Death) short retirement when it was believed that a new system where animals had their own seperate Deaths was more convienient.
The Death of Rats, however, is the only 'sub-Death' that is still around after the 'human' Death came back to work.
He was a part of Death and he's six inches tall, has brittle grey whiskers and is a boney rat with speech like SQUEAK instead of TALKING LIKE THIS...
Quoth the Raven works as a translator and the Death of Rats is more mischievious version of Death. He has a better sense of humour and helps out Susan Sto Helit in difficult times...
