The h2g2 Poem

The Bonfire

The bonfire stood tall and dark against the black sky.

We waited so patiently, my brother and I.

And then it was lit to the roar of the crowd.

Almost immediately the flames took a hold – silver and gold.

The sparks full of colour danced round and around.

Poor Mr Guy Fawkes stood there with a frown.

We watched while the flames curled round his suit.

One minute blue, the next it was black – crackle crack!

One minute he was there and then he was gone -

Lost in the world of the bonfire song.
