The h2g2 Poem

Only a couple

I want to tell that little girl

Mummy will be home for tea

I want to tell her it didn't happen

I must have the wrong house.

Deep blue eyes boring into me

Hanging on my words

As I speak to daddy

Fighting my own tears

My minds eye replays the scene

Tortured metal

Wailing banshee of pain

Piercing the cold air

The same wailing echoes

Inside number 23

The cries for mummy

Will forever go unheeded

I want to tell him she's ok

She didn't go under his wheels

As carefree, he turned to

Chat with his mates.

But I can't make things right

I can't bring her back

I want to, I want to

I want to put it all back
