Lies

I come across a blatant lie

And instantly, I wonder 'WHY'?

Am I so fragile or so scary

To tell the truth to me you're wary?

If so, I must apologise,

I'd much prefer you'd not disguise

Your real thoughts — even if you think

They hurt me — trust me, I won't blink.

I'm not that stupid, I will cope,

A lie will only give me hope

When there is none, I think that's cruel.

I hate to find that I'm a fool.

So know: a lie hurts so much more

And it will leave me feeling sore.

So please, be honest at all cost

Or else my trust in you is lost.
