Every day five or more newly approved entries are recommended on the H2G2 Main Page. These go by unnoticed to most users as they focus around their own page. This weekly article points out and reviews the most entertaining and interesting entries of the week, as far as I'm concerned anyway. My tastes do not reflect yours in any way and feel free to have completely different ideas from mine, it is after all a free country.

Ashtrays (Alternatives to) Picture it, you're drunk, you're comfy on the sofa and your cig is now nothing more than a carefully balanced pile of ash. You look for an ashtray but the nearest one is 10 feet away but it may as well be a mile. You have a choice, move to the ashtray or find an alternative. Read this entry and you may never need an ashtray again.

Bivouacking Not something I really want to do on a regular basis but if your a tramp, hitchhiker or regularly don't make it home (like after 10 pints of lager) you may find this useful.

Fossil Poo Couldn't resist putting this one in, but I do have a childish sense of humour. One thing this entry aint tho, is crap. (Sorry...poor pun I know)

Gryphons If you're anything like me you love those old films like "Clash of the Titans" and "Jason and the argonauts" with all those dodgy effects of mythological monsters then you will like this entry. Gives a nice description and a bit of history about Gryphons.

Karate Old chinese proverb..."Man with nob in biscuit tin is f*****g crackers". Say this to a black belt and you will probably find out more about karate than you would like to know. If however severe physical pain is not at the top of your wish list, read this instead. You'll learn more and won't need a trip to the emergency room after it.

Lava Lamps If you have ever been to a hippies house chances are they will have one of these somewhere. Find out why the flower power generation created these rather cool gadgets. If you ask me they are the best thing to come out of the sixties.

Photoelectric Effect Anyone fancy a physics lesson? Word of advice, don't try and understand this while drunk as I did and failed. However after sobering up it made a lot more sense and I now know how solar panels work. If you want to know too, then look no further...

Project Galactic Guide (PGG) h2g2 has a rival, but because we are all such nice friendly people here I think we should all take a few minutes (or longer) to look at another site inspired by DNA.

Roast Suckling Pig The food slot returns and what better way than with a whole roast pig. Unfortunately it doesn't have the recipe on here but more along the lines of the etiquette for eating such a meal. Recommended if you don't want people to think your a slob.

The Locost Car Cheap sports cars, everyone should have one. Forget the environment and pollution, you can't beat racing along country lanes in the summer. Could have done with a few more details but hey, if your interested in this sort of thing this is a good place to start.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
