The h2g2 Poem

Remember the Editor

My poem about the editor

I wrote it verily before

I knew she wasn't well,

She needed it I could tell.

Not using this as a vaulting stage

Not just writing it to fill the page.

I want my poetry to entertain

And lighten my readers' brain.

I want them to feel better, but I fail

So my poetry seems like a wail.

I'll try harder to make you feel good

Like my heart and head tell me I should.

Please my readers be of good mirth

And remember that you are of worth.

Each one of you is special indeed

And so your happiness I will try and feed.

Please remember the editor's hard work

For compared to them I am but a jerk.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
