In honour of Awix's 450th cinema review, we bring you a blast from the cinematic past.
Now Showing: Cardigan, the Movie
These stills appeared in the March-May 1922 issue of Exhibitor's Trade Review. Movies were silent then. And the trade mag discussed questions such as censorship and how to encourage indy filmmakers, so other than the no-sound issue, pretty much same-old same-old.
The movies? Just as bad then as now, it seems. This turkey starred William Collier, Jr and Betty Carpenter. Collier played Michael Cardigan, an American freedom fighter back in pre-Revolutionary War upstate New York. Betty played a character called Silver Heels, the ward of a British commander. We venture to guess, without seeing the film, that there is lurve in the offing. Also shooting of muskets.
We can't swear Jason Statham wasn't in this movie.
