The Statement


All night he hadn't been able to sleep. He knew in the morning that he would be facing the nation's press. He was at the centre of a scandal and was a worried man.


The presidential candidate approached the podium with trepidation. He coughed, shuffled some papers, then spoke.


'I have nothing to say on this matter but that I have nothing to say and I can see no point in telling you that there is no point in telling you this. Thank you.'


And with that he turned and walked away, to the bewilderment of the assembled crowd.
