Join the Q: First Rose of Winter

Regular readers will know I like roses. It was a warm winter in 2018/19, so I found a rose in bloom on Christmas Day. This year has been similarly unusual from the perspective of the rose bush that shares its name with my darling. It flowered beautifully on her birthday in May, but then in July all its leaves fell off as if it were winter. I gave it some TLC, adding fresh compost, food and water to the pot, and its leaves grew back in September. To my surprise it flowered again in November, making it not so much the 'Last Rose of Summer', but rather the First Rose of Winter!
