Jeff's Space on DNA

Hello !

I should state the obvious here and point out that I no longer frequent this site. I've been checking in from time to time1 mostly out of a sense of nostalgia--this site, which I joined back in January 2000, is probably the first internet community with which I had ever associated.

I've since moved on. My initial perception of the idea of the Guide has been, for me, better fulfilled by Wikipedia. (Which isn't, of course, to say that the two projects are in competition; each serves a different a purpose with different goals.) Of late, I've been less friendly with prose and have been favoring the approach taken by Freebase.

Anyways, it's a parting of the ways. So long, and . . . well, you know the rest!

Hello !

Welcome to my user space. I intend to update this page periodically, so you're welcome to check back at your leisure.

Life on h2g2

Here's some h2g2 groups/societies/pages I've been affiliated with and/or have participated in:

Snow-covered mountains with river and wolf encircled by text reading Northwest US Researchers Group

Life off h2g2

Mount St Helens, Washington.

Having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from The Evergreen State College, I'm currently living in my hometown of Longview, A3420442. Those looking for a more specific location (for whatever nefarious purposes) can also find me on A5076614.

In my spare time, I take an interest in technology (e.g., Linux, open source software, etc.) and reading about philosophy (on topics such as atheism, humanism, Taoism, stoicism, rationalism).

Hello DNA visitor, and welcome to my user space on the Hub. You're currently viewing this page through the DNA Hub--the focal point for information regarding DNA. If you haven't already, you might be interested in checking out the DNA Hub's front page.

What have you been talking about?

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - dive in!

Usually, most of my attention is focused on DNA's very first (and largest) community, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (or h2g2, for short). h2g2 was founded by the late Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and its sequels. h2g2 serves as a living and dynamic guide to life, the universe and everything. In addition to being a collection of unique knowledge and perspectives submitted by its Researchers, h2g2 also fosters a sense of real community. If you'd like to take a look at h2g2, you can take a tour of the community.

You might be interested in my personal space on h2g2, which has more information about me than does this page.

Regards,

Jeff

1and may continue to do so in the future2Okay, I don't actually participate there, but there's quite a bit of intelligent discussion in the Forum, and it is well worth reading.3This only works if measuring with degrees, and not radians--don't even think about using gradians either4The wonderful badge artwork is courtesy of Amy the Ant5Protected by SpamAssassin.
